A magistrate, Richard Bassey, collapsed on Tuesday in front of the Cross River State Governor’s office, Calabar, during a protest over unpaid 24 months salaries.
Bassey was, however, revived by his colleagues and taken to a hospital.

Speaking on behalf of the magistrates, Solomon Abuo, stated that no government official had addressed them since they began the protest.
He said government has toyed with them for the past two years without any serious commitment.

“As I speak, we are still working. We will continue to protest until we are paid. This is our last resort,” he said.
The state deputy governor, Prof. Ivara Esu, drove past the protesting magistrates without stopping to attend to them at the moment the magistrate collapsed.
