A Non-Governmental Organization, Kpakpando Foundation, has empowered over 3,000 persons with disabilities in Imo State and beyond.

The foundation, Tuesday, donated grinding machines, gas stove, sewing machines, wheel chairs, generating sets, crutches, bags of rice, cash, as well as awarded scholarship to the disabled persons.

Speaking, Chairman, Kpakpando Foundation, Senator Osita Izunaso, said that the empowerment items were improved upon so that no special citizen would be left behind, noting that special committee was set up to take some of the empowerment items to various wards and communities for even distribution to those who deserve them most.

Izunaso mentioned that the “establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disability was largely achieved due to consistent pressure and advocacy of Kpakpando Foundation on the government”.

He said the foundation has done much for persons with disabilities within and outside Imo State and will not relent.

Earlier in an address, Director General, Kpakpando Foundation, Mrs. Pat John-Oseh, stated that the foundation for the past 15 years has been committed to the welfare of the persons with disabilities.

The beneficiaries whose joy knew no bounds, prayed God to continue to bless and strengthen founder of the foundation.
