Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has described the judiciary as one of the most important arms of government which serves as an arbiter between the Executive and Legislative arm.
Uzodimma made this assertion, Wednesday, at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Chambers, Government House Owerri, during the swearing in of two new judges.

He said apart from the invaluable role it plays in the sustenance of democracy, it is also the last hope of the common man.
“Because the judiciary protects the interest of all, those who serve in its temple must be above board. This means justice must be served to all manner of people, without fear or favour. This sacred duty presupposes that our Lordships must be blind to friendship and sentiments in the discharge of their duties”.
He said his government believes so much in the doctrine of separation of power between the arms of government, reason he said his government has been taking the welfare of judges very seriously and created an enabling environment for them to operate independently.
He charged the newly sworn in judges to defend the oath they took, by ensuring that they serve the course of justice without fear or favour.
Responding, Hon. Justice Alma Eluwa expressed profound gratitude and immense appreciation to the governor for their appointment as Judges of High Court of Imo State.
She pledged on behalf of others to work diligently and assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor. She pledged that new judges will be incorruptible, exhibit impeccable moral and behavioural attributes.
