With a view to galvanizing the people of Ohaji West for improved social amenities and economic prosperity, the President-General of Umuwaku autonomous community, Hon. Chief Vitalis Jiakponna, has been appointed the President of all Presidents-General (PoP) of Ohaji West.
Ohaji West is made up of Awarra, Ochia, Assa, Obile, Ohoba, Obosima, Umuwaku autonomous communities.
The appointment was made by the Coordinator of Ohaji West Development Center, Prince Emmanuel Omereji during a critical meeting involving Management Committee and all the Presidents-General of Ohaji West, held on Wednesday, at Amafo, the temporary headquarters of Ohaji West Development Center.
Omereji who stated that the appointment of Hon. Chief Vitalis Jiakponna as the President of Presidents -General of Ohaji West was due to his sterling efforts towards sustainable peace, development and progress of Ohaji, encouraged him to continue to work in tandem and cooperation with the PGs and other leaders of the oil rich region to advance development, peace, security and social respite.
The Coordinator also called on the Management Committee Members and the Presidents – General of Ohaji West not to leave any stone unturned to galvanize the people to chat ways forward, as well as meet their welfare and wellbeing for their betterment.
Responding, Chief Vitalis Jiakponna, assured that his appointment as President of Presidents-General of Ohaji West was deserving, as he has been in the vanguard of canvassing for the good and forwardness of Ohaji, vowing that he would use the position to attract more democratic goodies to the area.
While thanking the Coordinator and the entire leaders of Ohaji West for finding him worthy for the appointment, Jiakponna reiterated the commitment of the people in supporting the Shared Prosperity administration championed by Governor Hope Uzodimma for the good and progress of Ohaji/Egbema and Imo State as a whole.
