The Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC), Civil Society Organizations, stakeholders and customers are seeking ways of improving safe water supply in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe urban areas of the state.

The groups held a meeting in Owerri, recently.

In his presentation, Ahmed Afolabi, a member of staff of ISWSC, said the meeting was a summary of previous meetings and programmes carried out so far towards providing potable water.

GHARF Program Officer, Ekeh Cornell and Okechukwu Okoro, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, CYDI, maintained that feedback is important so that those concerned will be well guided to do the needful to improve safe water supply in the state.

Participants in the meeting were youths, people with disability and representatives drawn from Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri urban, who appealed that bursted water pipes be repaired so that water runs regularly to every household to reduce scarcity of treated water.

The representatives suggested that effective monitoring should be intensified to stop people from erecting structures on waterways to avoid damaging water pipes, commending water board, USAID- E-EWASH for making efforts towards restoring safe water in the urban areas.
