Insecurity: Sen Ubah assures Anambra South women of peaceful cohesion

Marian House of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi was agog on Saturday as the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the District’s 2023 Senatorial Election, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah stormed the facility to grace the 2022 Annual General Meeting of the Diocesan women.

Addressing the women, Senator Ubah whose entrance into the meeting hall sparked massive chants of joy from the women, thanked them for being good disciples of Christendom and for promoting the norms of the Catholic Church. The Senator whose presence clearly charged up the atmosphere in the church with huge excitement urged the Christian mothers to always promote law and order in their various parishes and communities and also help the State Government in fighting insecurity by reporting any suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities. .

Speaking on the need for the church to sustain their support for the less privileged in the society, Senator Ubah appreciated the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) and other women groups in the Diocese for their efforts towards improving the wellbeing of the people through their skills acquisition and support programmes and pledged to open up more areas of collaboration with them. He further reiterated that the society will become a better place if all hands are on deck to support the needy.

The Senator urged the church to keep the good works up and made a cash donation of three million naira to support the activities of the women .

The Anambra South Senator who vowed that every “Onye Nne” (Christian mother) , in the hall must go home with a gift item from him immediately commenced the distribution of varous gift items to all the cheering women in the hall.

A raffle draw was also conducted and over 30 women drawn from different parishes in different local government areas under the Nnewi diocese won brand new sewing machines and grinding machines as support to their businesses.

Senator Ubah further expressed his profound appreciation to the women for their roles in promoting discipline and orderliness in their various homes and communities. He also disclosed that the donations are part of his personal efforts to promote the wellbeing of the people and reassured them that in his official capacity as a Senator, he will continue to attract quality projects and programmes to Anambra South Senatorial District .

In his speech, the YPP Candidate for the 2023 Nnewi North State Constituency Election, Sir Augustine Ikedoji (Synod) who accompanied the Senator on the August visit, appreciated the Diocesan women for their overwhelming support in promoting humanitarian causes. He further reassured them that he will always protect the interests of the less privileged and urged them not to relent in promoting law and order in their various communities.

Also speaking, Chief Dan Edokwe and Chief Ernest Otugo both of whom were also on the Senator’s entourage thanked the women for being gpod role models and followers of the teachings of Christ. Both of them also supported the donation by the Senator with cash donation of one hundred thousand Naira each to the Diocesan Women to support their activities and urged them to keep the good works up.

Responding, the women through their leadership appreciated Senator Ubah for the uncommon efforts he has made towards changing the narrative in the Senatorial District as well as his humanitarian gestures. The women who couldn’t hide their joy further maintained that Senator Ubah started making uncommon efforts at human capacity development far before joining politics. They also appreciated him for the efforts he has made through the instrumentality of his office to attract quality programmes to ndị Anambra South and reassured him of their continuous support..
