Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, presented certificate of return to Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held at the weekend.
Prof Soludo, a former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) won the keenly contested poll with a very wide margin to beat his closest rival, Chief Valentine Ozigbo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 112, 229 votes to beat the PDP who polled 53, 807 votes, with Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) coming third with 43, 285 votes.
Soludo contested on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which is the same party of the outgoing governor Willie Obiano.
The presentation took place at the INEC office in Awka, the Anambra State capital. His deputy, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim was also presented his certificate of return.
He won 19 of the 21 local government areas, PDP 1 and YPP 1, including Ihiala LGA which had its own election done on Monday.
Meanwhile, party faithful who trooped out to celebrate the former CBN governor have headed to Isuofia, his country home where the celebration continued.
