Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has disclosed plans of his administration to empower 10,000 youths of the state before the end of the year, 2020.
Uzodimma made the disclosure while addressing beneficiaries of Imo youth empowerment programme who paid him a ‘thank you visit’ at the Government House, Owerri, recently.
He said the government would have given them start-up capital for their different businesses in the next 10 days.
“So when you get what is meant for you, wear your thinking cap and then deploy it to a business that will give you job satisfaction, so you will soon be in position to employ people. All I beg of you is to challenge yourself”, the governor submitted.
Earlier, the spokesman of the group, Eric Uwakwe, had informed the governor that they were on the solidarity match to appreciate him for initiating the empowerment programme and making them beneficiaries.
Uwakwe, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Youth Affairs, said over 7,000 of them have acquired enough business skills from the one month training they underwent at the Imo Youths Centre.
The group commended the governor for his tremendous achievements so far in office and assured him of their unalloyed support.
