The government of Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo State is planning another youth empowerment programme that would take care of about 2,000 youths in the state.

This hint was dropped by the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Hon Noble Atulegwu during an exclusive chat with our correspondent.

The commissioner whose ministry trained 1,600 youth from the 304 INEC wards in the state on business skills some months ago, preparatory for their final empowerment, said that the 2nd phase would be done after the 1st Phase must have been concluded.

On why it appeared the 1st phase of the empowerment was taking time to conclude, he said it was a gradual process which involved different stages that participants were expected to identify with after training. This includes submission of business proposals and uploading them on Nirsal/CBN Microfinance Website.

Atulegwu assured that all the 1,600 youths that participated in the first training would be empowered with sums ranging from N1 to N10 million, unless any of them has been given Covid 19 palliative sum of N250,000 during the heat of the pandemic

He added that the programme was introduced to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor and at the same time turn around the state’s economy.
