Newly recruited revenue collectors in Imo State were yesterday, Thursday, October 15 inducted in an induction ceremony at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre, Owerri.
Speaking during the 2020 Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) induction ceremony, the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma charged them to be diligent duties and go about their business, be loyal and patriotic to the system, without any fear of molestation.
“Your job will speak for you. It is your performance that will bring you promotion, increase your salary and introduce new allowances for you. One thing I assure you is that if you do your own, I will do my own.
He spoke highly of the Executive Chairman of the service Justice Okoye and narrated how he went to the Federal Inland Revenue Service and pleaded with the leadership to send him and some of his team members to come and work for Imo State.
The governor commended them for accepting to come down from Abuja to do a lesser paying job in Imo State.
Earlier in his address, the Executive Chairman, Mr Justice Okoye who appreciated the governor for the appointment, promised not to disappoint him. He informed that all the IIRS taxmen were all recruited solely on merit.
“Personally and with all sense of humility, I am privileged and honoured to be carrying out this function on behalf of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) We are committed to help tax payers meet their civic obligation responsibly.
To the newly inducted personnel of IIRS he said, “The task before you and I are enormous, but I want to assure you that it is quite plausible and together we shall provide practical steps to assist individuals, organizations and our society at large.
