Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described the flooding at Irette end of the Onitsha-Owerri Road as embarrassment to him.
The governor who barred his heart during an inspection of the area, gave a matching order to the commissioner for works to immediately evacuate the flood.
He said investigation revealed that an indigene of Irette built a gas plant which blocked water channel, resulting to the overflow of flood water, which now covers the road whenever it rained heavily.
He directed that the commissioner should liaise with leaders of the community to find the best way to handle the issue of the gas plant to bring permanent solution to the embarrassing flooding.
Uzodimma used the opportunity to reassure Imo people of his administration’s determination to commence massive road construction and rehabilitation in the state, as soon as dry season sets in.
