Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has appreciated members of the Imo State House of Assembly for
forstering a cordial relationship between them and the executive arm of government, which he said has been making governance easy in the state.

The governor made the commendation on Tuesday, at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Chambers, Imo State Government House, while assenting to two new bills passed by the Imo State House of Assembly on coordination of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship activities and coordination of donor and interventionist programmes of international and national donor agencies.

He thanked them for expediting actions on the two executive bills and passing them within the shortest possible time.

According to him “we found it necessary to put a body together to supervise and monitor local manufacturing, entrepreneurship skills, private sector driven activities, interventions from government and non-governmental organizations, empowerment of local artisans, with a specified standards.

“It is on that note that an executive bill was sent to the state house of assembly, who in their wisdom, expeditiously passed the bill into law.

Also, the governor noted that there had been numerous interventions, projects and programmes by various international interventionist agencies like; World Bank, French Development Agency, USAID, among others, but regretted that the state had not got the commensurate value from them due to lack of proper coordination.

Said he, “we also recommended to the assembly, through an executive bill to make legislation to create a bureau that will coordinate all interventions from global partners, to ensure proper management and implementation of the policies and guarantee that the desired impacts were made on the people.

Earlier in his presentation, the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins disclosed the bills as: ‘A bill for a law to establish the Imo State Micro, Small, Medium and Industry Development Agency and for other related matters and a bill for a law to establish a bureau to coordinate, supervise and monitor projects undertaken by donor and development partners in Imo State.

He informed that the bills underwent all stages of legislative work and ready for the governor’s assent.
Highpoint of the event was the symbolic presentation of the bills to the governor by the Clerk of the House of Assembly and appending of the governor’s signature which automatically made them laws for the state.
