National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Abia State has commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for approving automatic promotion for local government staff in the State.

The appreciation was contained in a message delivered by NULGE Chairman, Comrade Ikechi Nwogwe at Ochende International Conference Centre in Umuahia during a meeting between Governor Ikpeazu and NULGE members.

Ikpeazu during the meeting, announced the promotion of all LGA staff to the next grade level, effective from April, 2023.

Ikpeazu who explained that his decision to promote the workers was in line with his government’s policy in staff welfare, appealed to the beneficiaries to vote for guber candidate of PDP, Sir Okey Ahaiwe.

He revealed that he rejected some suggestions to sack civil servants in the State but rather employed more persons into the State’s workforce.

He further warned the LGA staff against voting for any candidate that may sack them but to renew their love with PDP which he said, was workers-friendly.

Responding to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s gestures, NULGE State Chairman, Comrade Ikechi Nwogwe extolled the Governor for promoting the LGA staff to the next grade level and promised their continued loyalty to Ikpeazu’s administration.
