Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has renewed the war against illiteracy in the State with the appointment of Mr. Nwaorji Dauglas Chimezie as the new executive Director of Abia State Agency for Mass Literacy, adult and non-formal education in the State.
A statement in Umuahia by the Secretary to the Abia State government, (SSG), Barr. Chris Ezem, and made available to Journalists on Monday, said that Mr. Nwaorji Dauglas Chimezie took over from the former executive Director of the agency, Chief G.I. Akara.
The statement further stated that the appointment was with immediate effect.
Abia State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-formal education is an agency tasked with ensuring mass education of the citizenry, especially those in informal strata, in line with the United Nations programs.
Similarly, the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs has invited proprietors of crèches and day care homes in the State to the Ministry’s headquarters at school road, Umuahia for registration and certification.
A statement signed by a Director in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluchi Franklin, said the owners of such educational and day care homes should honour the invitation within two weeks of the notice or risk sanction.
