Former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Peter Obi, has promised to make Nigeria a productive nation rather a consumption nation with a view to improving and standardizing the economy for even development, peace, prosperity and security.

He said Nigeria’s economy is dwindling because the country’s economy is largely dependent on oil coupled with greed, fraud and corruption, regretting that such anomaly is collapsing the economy of the country, retarding the welfare and existence of citizens who he mentioned wallow in abject poverty and suffering with crisis bedevilling them.

Obi gave the assurance to fix Nigeria while addressing leaders of Imo State PDP at the party’s secretariat Owerri on Thursday.

The former Governor of Anambra State and a business mogul who said he would tailor the part of good governance, rule of law and constitutionalism to revive the economy of the country in order to meet the welfare and needs of citizens by focusing mainly on agriculture, commerce and industry, berated the APC and President Mohammadu Buhari led federal government for collapsing the economy of Nigeria, breeding insecurity and poverty with bad governance ridden by wickedness, avarice, incompetence, ethnicity and religious extremism.

He stressed that he will create admissible opportunities for youth employment, women empowerment via solid and working infrastructure, standard education among others hence he urged the PDP delegates to vote wisely as to present a salable and winnable candidate in the 2023 general election.

“We have a consumption nation where everything is shared and consumed without thinking about the future of the country. I will move Nigeria from being a consuming country to a productive nation when voted as President. Nigeria is getting worst and the leadership failure should be fixed or addressed squarely and I stand in a better position to fix the country having been tested and confirmed”. Obi assured.

Obi was bitter that “Nigeria is collapsing as killing, arson, banditry, criminality, insecurity and terrorism are everywhere and beclouding Nigeria. The economy cannot survive under these ugly situations. Nigeria is now number 3 in the world in terrorism after Afghanistan and Somalia. All these happen because of bad leadership. It is quite disheartening that over 10 million citizens live in extreme poverty and there is no way Nigeria will not have crisis when more than 60 million people are unemployed, 15 million children are out of school, debt is out of hand with 90 to 95% income is used to service debts. Everything in Nigeria since 2015 is negativity”.
