Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has promised to judiciously implement the report of the judicial commission of enquiry into collapse of buildings in the state.

Uzodimma gave this assurance on Tuesday, October 22, while receiving report of the committee at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Chambers of Imo State Governmnet House, Owerri.

He commended them for a thorough job that produced a clear report and recommendations. He said through the report, his government will come up with policies and laws that will prevent future ugly incidents of building collapse in the state

Earlier, Chairman of the committee, Eze Architect Jude Obidiegwu said their investigation revealed that a combination of human errors in form of; poor contract administration, poor contract procedure, poor contract handling and poor execution of the contract caused collapse of the eight storey hotel building along Yar’ adua Drive, Owerri.

He said owner of the building who is based in France was represented in the whole process by his lawyer while the contractor refused to show up entirely, adding that having submitted their report, containing their recommendations, it was up to government whether the land go back to the owner or remain permanently confiscated by government.
