Human rights activist and Convener, Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, Barr. Esther Uzoma is dead.
A statement from co-conveners of the situation room, Asma’u Joda and Celestine Okwudili Odo, Thursday, disclosed that Uzoma died on Wednesday during a surgery in a hospital in Abuja.
The statement described Uzoma as very energetic and a committed human rights and gender activist who was at the forefront of driving Nigeria’s democratic reforms.
Uzoma was equally the National Coordinator of Proactive Gender Initiative.
The Situation Room was made up of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) working in support of credible and transparent elections in Nigeria numbering more than 70.
