Anambra state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Kehinde Aremu, has advised corps members serving in the state not to lose the essence of their culture, describing it as a way of life.

Speaking at a cultural festive organised by staff and corps members deployed to Anambra state for the 2020 Batch ‘B’ on Saturday, Aremu expressed worries over the relegation of indigenous cultures to the background by young Nigerians while embracing alien cultures.

According to him, the convergence of cultures and colours witnessed at the occasion showed the rich and diverse Nigerian ways of life which can be harnessed for youth empowerment and nation building.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of awards to platoons 1, 5 and 7 that emerged first, second and third positions respectively.

Indeed it was a convergence of cultures and colours as corps members and camp officials were dressed in various cultural attires at the state permanent orientation camp Umuawulu Mbaukwu, Awka South of the state, which was amidst fun and celebration.

Some of the corpers, who spoke to our correspondent, said that they enjoyed the good will of the state government, as well as staff of the NYSC.
