Hit and run driver kills woman in Ontisha

It was a gory site at Upper Iweka express way Onitsha, as a yet to be identified aged woman was knocked down by a hit and run driver.
News Echo Correspondent gathered that the dead woman was crossing the express road opposite Toronto hospital when an over speeding car knocked her down.

It was also gathered that the unidentified driver noticing that the woman had been hit, sped off before rushed at and taken to Toronto hospital, where the doctor confirmed her dead.
Confirming the incident, the Ag. Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kamal Musa, on Tuesday, 22nd Nov 2020, said,

“At about 0920hrs this morning 24th November 2020 a hit and run driver whose identity was not captured knocked down a female adult who was crossing the express way at Opposite Toronto hospital Onitsha”.
“According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was on top speed and fled after knocking the victim who was rushed to Toronto hospital Onitsha, by FRSC rescue team from Upper Iweka Outpost and deposited at the Mogue after doctor’s confirmation”.

“However, the Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew A. Kumapayi sends his condolences to the deceased family and admonishes pedestrians to always make use of pedestrian bridges where available and observe traffic drills before crossing the road”.
Moreso, he warns motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits stipulated by law in built-up areas. Drive safe and Stay Safe this ember months.
