The Imo State Government has dissolved the management of Heartland Football Club.
The government, through the Commissioner of Sports, Youth and Social Development, Chief Dan Oguh announced this in a letter addressed to the new General Manager of the club, Mr Chukwudi Ifeanyi Fortune. The letter indicated that the former management of the club was dissolved after the payment of their salary arrears, adding that the workers have been paid off. It asked the New General Manager to set up a new management to enable the club commence preparations and return to winning ways in the 2020/2021 NPFL Season.

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has received accolades for clearing the backlog of salary arrears owed the state-owned Heartland Football Club players and staff by previous administrations.
Captain of the club, Ikechukwu Ezenwa confirmed clearance of their salary arrears to newsmen shortly after completion of the exercise by the commissioner for youths, sports and social development, Hon Dan Ogu in his office.
Affirming the exercise as successful and laudable, he applauded Hon Ogu for facilitating the process and religiously executing the payment to the satisfaction of all.
The Premier League club side captain said the players are morally elevated and will reciprocate the governor’s gesture with optimum performance.
Ezenwa stated that Governor Uzodinma has endeared himself to Heartland players and etched his name in gold by achieving what his predecessors termed an impossibility.
Describing Commissioner Ogu as an unrepentant “Camp Hope” foot soldier with great passion for sports, he thanked Governor Uzodinma for embarking on renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium and assured that they will not disappoint him.
Earlier, Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Development, Hon Dan Chike Ogu re-stated the governor’s resolve to make sports a priority and using it to transform the state in line with the the 3R slogan of the administration.
The Ope Okigwe-born politician urged the players and handlers to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by winning both local and continental trophies for the state and assured them of governments support at all cost.
