Govt ready to train youths on digital skill – Commissioner for Digital Economy

The Commissioner for Digital Economy and E- Government, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, says the Imo State Government is ready to Flagg Off a Digital Program tagged Skill Up Imo Project where youths will be trained and equipped with relevant digital skill that will empower them economically, as well as help them become contributors of wealth in the forth industrial revolution.

He disclosed this when he addressed Imo youths during the International Volunteers Day Celebration 2022 held at the Rockview Hotel Owerri on Monday.

Mentioning that everything now is about digital as the new economy that is evolving requires a whole lot of people to participate and help to grow that economy for the betterment of humanity and for their own prosperity, Amadi hinted that Governor Hope Uzodimma is very passionate at empowering youths through digital/technological skill.

“Governor Hope Uzodimma is a digital Governor because of his passion to take, advance development and grow the digital economy. In fact, he remains the very first Governor to establish the Ministry of Digital Economy and E-Government in Nigeria. And because of this interest he has decided to go this way and Imo is now well positioned to become a leading digital economy State in Nigeria that would soon overtake Lagos, Ogun, Edo and Kaduna States”, the Commissioner maintained.

While urging Imo youths to brace up and make good use of the digital skill program to empower themselves, become wealth creators and employers of labour, Amadi noted that the technology flagship training is scholarship based that encompasses all youths of Imo State, adding that it is a five years program starting from 2022 to 2026, informing that the unveiling will be held at ICAPS Center, Egbu Road, Owerri, on 9th December 2022.

Reflecting that many rich investors are coming into Imo State precisely Owerri to invest given to safe, peaceful, beautiful/hospitable and nature/environment, one of the key organizers of the International Volunteers Day Celebration 2022, Ifeanyi Ochije (Sir White), thanked the volunteers for their thoughts, crusade, social works and positive adverts about Imo State before the international community.
