The Igbere country home of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is already agog as State Governors from different political party affiliation are expected today to grace the 10th anniversary of Kalu’s late father.
Also, federal and legislators have indicated their interest to attend the memorial ceremony, even with some of them plotting to utilise the occasion to win Kalu’s support for their political aspirations.
Kalu’s father, late Chief Uzor Johnson Nsiegbe Orji, who died ten years ago, was buried in a quiet ceremony according to his lifetime wish but ten years after his burial, Senator Orji Kalu, his first son picked today to accord him a full honour.
One of the Governors expected in Igbere today are Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, who is APC’s newel jewel as well as other State Chief executives while the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and other principal officers of the National Assembly are expected to be present.
In a tribute by the Senate Chief Whip last week in Igbere, Kalu described his late father as a man of principle who would have received a flashy burial ceremony if not for his lifetime wish, but adding that the time has come for his father to receive a deserved honour.
The Senator however regretted that his father was not alive to witness his continued rise in politics and business , but expressing satisfaction that the good legacies of Chief Johnson Kalu would remain indelible.
