The Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Imo State Command, Adekanye Joshua Oluwafemi has said that the corps will always partner with members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in order to ensure effective traffic management especially in Owerri metropolis.
The Commander gave the assurance when the executive members of Imo State chapter of NYCN paid the corps a familiarization visit at the command’s headquarters, Egbu, Owerri, on Wednesday.
He noted that FRSC was created to prevent road crash, saying safety should be of essence to every road user as life has no duplicate. “FRSC is commissioned to creating a safer motoring environment through compliance with the FRSC Act of 2007, adding that motorists do not need road safety agents to do the right thing.
Oluwafemi, who urged the group to find some time to embark on safety public enlightenment program at the motor parks in the state to help the corps to educate drivers as it cannot be everywhere at the same time, said the corps is “ready to collaborate with you to complement our work. NYCN can be of immense help to clear any traffic gridlock. “We commend your new leadership and reiterate our firm partnership on free movement with effective traffic control”.
Thanking the council for the courtesy visit, Deputy Corps Commander, Abdul Danlami and Superintendent Route Commander, Ekpe Matthew, affirmed that FRSC is always handy to partner with any serious and germane group to advance safety on the road.
The Chairman of NYCN Imo State chapter, Comr. Barr Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka pledged total support to the corps which he added is doing greatly. “We reassured FRSC of the readiness of Imo Youths to support it holistically. We also pledge our unflinching support to the corps and the need to partner with it to ensure effective traffic management in Owerri metropolis.
