The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has inaugurated about 80 new special marshals to assist in traffic management in Anambra State.

The inauguration was part of the retreat organized by the FRSC Special Marshals Section of the state at Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area, on Monday.

Addressing the new special marshals, the state FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi represented by the Deputy Corps Commander, Mr. Joseph Abuo said the team trained for six months, will help to reduce road crashes and ensure free flow of traffic in the state during and after the yuletide period.

Also speaking, the National Coordinator, Special Marshals, Dr. Sini Kwabe and the state coordinator of the team, Barr. Ben Osaka who described special marshals as volunteer arm of the FRSC and image makers of the corps through advocacy, reminded them that their service requires selflessness, respect to people, patience, punctuality and commitment, among others.

News Echo gathered that the conference with theme “The Imperative of Teamwork in the Operations of the Special Marshals” was aimed at equipping the marshals with necessary knowledge to perform creditably while on duty.
