A foundation, known as Ebuka Okafor foundation has organized her seventh annual outreach for three thousand widows and the vulnerable across the Anambra State.
The event which took place at the residence of the benefactor, Chief Ebuka Okafor at Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area, had about three thousand widows and the vulnerable in attendance, dancing and chanting songs of praise to God, appreciating Chief Okafor as they took turn to receive food and material items such as Rice, Beans, Garri, Onions, Noodles and clothes.
The women also went through free diagnosis and medical treatment for various ailments such as blood pressure, cholesterol, malaria, bacterial and fungal infection, eye problems while free drugs were given to them.
Declaring the event open, the wife of the Governor of Anambra State Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Public Orientation, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, appreciated the foundation for complementing the efforts of the state government in alleviating the plights of the down trodden.
Earlier in a sermon, at All Saints Anglican Church Nnobi Reverend Mathew Chukwuneme said last year is worth thanking God for, urging the congregation to forget the worries of last year.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Chief Ebuka Okafor said watching the women smiling and dancing gives him a level of satisfaction, especially with the tough situation year 2020.
According to Okafor, it is the blessing of God on his life that inspired him to the works of charity appreciating God for making last year’s palliative possible.
Commending the good work of Ebuka Okafor foundation, Senator Uche Ekwunife said she is proud of what the foundation is doing for the people which include awarding scholarships, paying rents for the people, empowering them among others.
The occasion was graced by former governor of Anambra State Mr. Peter Obi, traditional rulers and state government functionaries.
