It was a sad day as property worth millions of naira were on Wednesday destroyed by fire in a hotel in Enu-Avomimi, Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State. The fire, which started around 4.35am, was reportedly caused by power surge.
News Echo gathered that two rooms were completely razed before the arrival of the fire fighters. Confirming the incident, State Fire Chief Engr Martin Agbili said no life was lost during the inferno.
He however said his men were able to control the fire from spreading and engulfing the entire building. He said, “At about 0435hrs of today 01-02-2023, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of fire outbreak at Wiggo Hotel and Suites, Enu-Avomimi, Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and Fireghters to the fire scene. The fire was caused by power surge from one of the air conditioning system in the hotel. “Two rooms with its properties were completely burnt but we were able to control the fire from spreading and engulfing the entire building. “We withdrew our men at about 0630hrs after a successful fire operation.”
