As part of actions to address the demands of Imo youths which where pressed home through the ENDSARS protests, Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma has announced the floating of a N6b youth empowerment fund to empower vast majority of Imo youths.
Governor Uzodimma disclosed this through a statewide broadcast to Imo people on the evening of Friday, October 24, in which he also announced the relaxing of the 24-hour curfew he imposed on the state to 12 hours, beginning from 6pm to 6am.
He said the Imo State Special Youth Empowerment and Intervention Programme (IMYIEP) was expected to train and empower, in three batches, an estimated five hundred thousand (500,000) Imo youths in different skills and entrepreneurship ventures
The governor applauded the real Imo youths for maintaining a peaceful EndSARS protest and for heading his call and that of President Muhammadu Buhari to call off the protests, as their voice was heard loud and clear and immediate action being taken to address their grievances.
He said sponsors and perpetrators of the carnage in different parts of the state, who hijacked the peaceful EndSARS protests to unleash mayhem in the state are not far fetched, stating that security agents are already on their trail, as they will soon be brought to book to face the long arm of the law.
