The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has cautioned against indiscriminate bush burning and other acts capable of causing fire outbreak especially during dry season.
In a chat with journalists in Enugu, Wednesday, Head, Corporate Commission, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh, said EEDC has commenced public sensitization of her customers across its network, using the electronic mass media and digital platforms.
He noted that fire outbreaks have been identified as part of the common risks facing EEDC, especially in the dry season, hence the need to be cautious.
“Our major concern has to do with those in the rural communities that engage in hunting activities, who usually set the bush on fire. We appeal that even if they must engage in such, they should exercise caution and do so in a well-coordinated manner, to avoid causing damage to our installations located within their environment”, he appealed.
The EEDC image maker further called on customers not to take any electrical spark in their homes lightly, as they could lead to fire outbreak, adding that they should always engage the services of competent and qualified electricians in carrying out electrical repairs.
According to him, EEDC is working assiduously to ensure that safe environment is maintained across its network and that the already improving service quality is sustained.
