The Abia State Advisory Council has called for completion and sustenance of all projects captured in Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s 30 years developmental plans.
The Advisory Council also reiterated the call for the legalization of Abia Chatter of Equity, by the Abia State House of Assembly, to ensure political stability of the State. The positions of the Advisory Council were made known by Sir Chikezie Nwachukwu, the Acting Chairman of the Council during a press briefing held at office of Secretary to Abia State government in Umuahia.
The Advisory council which commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for some notable achievements his administrations has recorded in development of the State, urged any Governor who will succeed Ikpeazu not to abandon the grand projects conceived by his government. “This is the first comprehensive plan geared towards a systematic development of all sections for the next 30 years. We plead with the incoming administration to utilize the inputs made in the development plan to move the State to greater heights.”
“We have consistently and persistently and pleaded with the various administrations for the passing of the “Charter of Equity” into law by our State House of Assembly. We hope that this administration and the incoming one would hearken to our prayers.” The Council expressed optimism that the Charter of Equity would be passed into law by the Abia State House of Assembly, present or incoming. On the current insecurity conditions of Nigeria, the Abia Advisory Council commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and security agencies for ensuring that Abia remained relatively peaceful, when compared to some other States.
The council charged Abians to be vigilant against insecurity and to arm security agencies with needful information that could lead to arrest of suspected criminals in any part of the State, while informing Abians to vote for the right political candidates. It further charged Abians to secure their votes after casting their votes in 2023 to ensure that their votes are not stolen. The Advisory council further commended wisdom of Abia founding fathers and also applauded the efforts of present and past Governors of Abia for their sacrifices in the State.
