As Government of Imo State commenced implementation of data capturing and painting of commercial vehicles, disabled persons in the state have agreed to fully comply with government directives in order to have effective check on commercial vehicles to stem criminality and insecurity.
This resolution was reached when the group’s leaders had a discussion with Data Capturing and Painting of Commercial Vehicles Committee in Owerri on Wednesday.
Speaking, Chairman, Imo State Transport Committee who doubled as Chairman Data Capturing and Painting Committee, Elder Anaelechi Okawunne, disclosed that the approval by the persons with disability to abide by the directives of government in terms of data capturing and painting of commercial vehicles was a healthy one as, noting that the law (no 3 of 2007).
Okawunne stated that “every commercial vehicle that operates in Imo State must be captured and painted for the purpose of security./People with disability have accepted to be captured and promised to reach out to their various unions as to look into the government directives”, saying every transport union operating within the state must ensure it complies with the government directives, describing the meeting as a huge success.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Citizens, Hon. Samuelson Ahumibe, hinted that disabled persons have been promised of better things in the future by the 3r led administration, stating that Uzodimma has deep love for the special citizens and hence would stop at nothing to redefine their lives even as he charged them to appreciate the Governor’s gestures by accommodating the policies of the government.
The SA stressed that the security of Imo State is very paramount, appreciating the idea of his members to involve in the data capturing and painting of commercial vehicles, pointing out that such a measure would enable government to reduce criminality or clampdown any criminal in the state.
Ahumibe, however, reminded the special citizens of the need to continue to support the Shared Prosperity Government which he said meant well for them, hinting that Uzodimma told him in confidence that he would soon release a special package for them, revealing that their monthly subvention will be paid in due course.
