The Six Imo State House of Assembly members: Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, Hon. Ekene Nnodumele , Hon. Njoku Onyemachi Crown and Hon. Ogbunikpa Samuel elected under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2019 may lose their seats for defecting to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

This is because APGA has devised solid legal arrangements to sue them in court over what it termed impersonation, illegal occupancy, negation of party’s constitution, denial of the people’s welfare and good representation, insisting that it will not leave any stone unturned from removing these defectors who he said are not good party men. It said it will invoke its constitution to nullify their seats in the court of law.

APGA who addressed journalists while “Unveiling the 2022 Corporate Strategy and Brand Direction of Imo APGA” held at its secretariat Owerri last week through its state Chairman, Hon. John Iwuala, regretted that effort made by APGA in the midst of danger to elect these lawmakers was a waste hence their nonperformance/bad representation and defection to the ruling party.

The party vowed that such a misfit must be curbed, disclosing that it has been repositioned to defeat PDP and APC in the forthcoming general election to stabilize internal democracy, improve welfare and wellbeing of the people who it frowned live in hunger, anger and insecurity.

According to Iwuala, “in alignment with the driving force and commitment of the current leadership of Imo APGA which is to lead a party that will sustain robust engagements with relevant stakeholders, this public statement today, the 3rd day of january, 2022, presents an outline of policies and strategies with objectives to pursue reform programs and rebranding for healthy competitiveness and effectiveness to evolve and present Ndimo for the endowment of APGA as a political party of first choice to all well meaning Imolites. To identify and reach out to well meaning Imo sons and daughters willing and able to be part of our vision of inclusiveness of masses. We are glad to be called the party of the masses, because there will be a total overhaul of the party and outright change of psyche both within the leadership, the led, contestants and of course masses”.

He maintained that hijacking the party by political opportunists and party destroyers will no longer be possible as the party has a strong and committed leadership who will never leave any stone unturned to reforming and restoring the lost glory of the party in the state, appealing to all aggrieved members to eschew their grievances, embrace reconciliation, come back and join hands to reform and restore APGA, remarking that the strength of APGA will never allow rigging and defection.
