Business owners condemn killing of police officers in Abia

Coalition of Business Groups and Associations of Nigeria (COBGAN) has condemned the recent killings of police officers in Abia state.

The President, Amb. Darlington Onuoha Kalu called on Abia residents to help and rise against the ongoing act, adding that it is capable of destroying the economy of the state and put everyone in total fear. Reacting on the recent killing of three policemen in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of the state, early hours of Monday, COBGAN said the result of such act is anti business.

He said that it is disturbing that more than four police stations has been burnt and more than 0 policemen lost their lives in the hands of the gunmen including arms missing.He said, “Without the police we are in the hands of hoodlum and cultists who are looking for ways to take over the state.”

 

It’s time the landlords community leaders, town union presidents, business executives, transport unions, members of the public should play a role of surveillances in reporting promptly to the police and other security agencies on issue of insecurity as they are not ghosts.

“We therefore sympathize with the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, Abia Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede, Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and the entire police family and the family of the affected police officers.”

Kalu called on the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to start organizing security town hall meeting introduced by the Nigeria Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).

Kalu who is also the Chairman POCACOV Abia State said that organizing a security town hall meeting will help every community in Abia to know how to help in the policing of their environment.
