A group, Abia Yes Movement has described the performance of successive administrations in Abia State as total failure.
The group, which is an offshoot of Global Hope for sustainable rights of less privileged foundation, made this declaration in Umuahia during a special meeting of the group on the future of Abia State.
Speaking to to newsmen after the meeting, the founder of Abia Yes Movement, Prince Kelechi Apugo vowed that only credible candidates would be voted into elective positions in Abia in 2023.
Prince Apugo who is also the founder of Global Hope for sustainable rights of the privileged, maintained that members of Abia Yes across the State have obtained their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) to vote out corrupt leaders and enthrone only good candidates as leaders, encouraging entire Abia electorate to do the same
According to him, “When you look at Abia State today, you will agree with me that leaders who have been ruling Abia State have nothing to show in administration and infrastructure. And that is what Abia Yes Movement has come to correct. Only credible and tested candidates will rule Abia from 2023.”
He warned Abia electorate against selling their votes in 2023 for peanuts, warning that doing so would tie them to perpetual slavery and underdevelopment.
On the activities of Global Hope for sustainable rights of less privileged, Prince Kelechi Apugo lamented that many Abians are living under the poverty level, especially at this time of economic instability in the country. He however, explained several Abians of different age bracket who were empowered by his foundation are now doing well in various business endeavors while school pupils from poor homes were also sponsored by his organisation to pursue their academic goals.
” A man who can not take care of his family because of economic hardship is a less privileged. A woman with a good business idea but no money to actualise it is a less privileged person. It is not just people with disability ; and that is why Global Hope for sustainable rights of less privileged is empowering them “, Prince Apugo said.
Also speaking, a member of the foundation, Chibueze Paul Dike noted that several youths have been equipped to become job creators in Abia and beyond.
