A chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Abiamara Ifeanyi Jude, has charged the Imo State Independent National Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to ensure that the Local Government Area election slated for March 2022 will be free, fair and credible.
He said when competent, credible, transparent, democratic minded and God- fearing persons are elected to man the affairs of the Local Government Council in the state, there will be good governance at the rural communities.
Speaking during a meeting involving the leadership of APGA held at its secretariat along Egbu Road Owerri last week, the APGA member regretted the ugly style of politics being played by the APC led government since 2015 where insecurity, hunger, suffering, killing and other evils have bedevil the country, even as he advised the government and ISIEC not to scuttle the council election to avoid violence in the state.
Abiamara, who posited that APGA has been winning elections in the state giving to its formidability and acceptability by the people across board, said “by God’s grace I will run for election with the mandate to help youths as well as contribute to the good and progress of the society.
We have been governed by old people who have not positive impact towards society edification and it is time for them to retire and give room to young minds with the capacity and vision for good leadership to take over governance”.
While encouraging youths to aspire for political positions, Abiamara charged youths to embrace peace and productivity to achieve better things in life.
