The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign immediately over failure to protect lives and property of citizens more especially the recently failed security that gave terrorists the edge to break Kuje Prison at Abuja, the capital territory of Nigeria, where over 1000 notorious inmates were freed.
APGA made the call through its Imo State chapter chairman, Hon. John Iwuala, while speaking to journalists in Owerri, last week.
He said Buhari, as the chief security officer and commander in chief of the combined armed forces of Nigeria, has woefully failed the people hence should resign immediately.
The state chairman regretted that it was a shameful thing for the jailbreak to occur even at the federal capital territory with security agents in Owerri parading, celebrating their day with Governor Hope Uzodimma, leaving Abuja at the mercy of bandits, terrorists who he said had their free day to operate for over two hours leading to the escape of dangerous inmates.
He said it was unfortunate that there was no reinforcement by the security operatives several days after the jailbreak which could cause any person to reflect on the words of the former military president of Nigeria, late Sani Abacha, that “any insurgency that lasts beyond 24 hours must have the hands of government in it”, stressing that helpless citizens have been left in palpable fear since the loose from cage of the Boko Haram and Islamic States of West Africa Province, ISWP, terrorists.
While asking citizens to reject the APC and the PDP and embrace APGA for a better society where internal democracy, good leadership will be maintained for even development, peace, comfort and security, Iwuala harped that the people are no longer safe in the hands of APC led government, frowning that the ruling party does not have the interests of the people at heart as it gave its presidential ticket to another medically incapacitated man.
“I see what is happening in APC as a calculated plan by Northerners to take over power, because I do not see Armed Tinubu as concluding one tenure. Our problem in this country is that of “godfatherism”, recycling of old ugly people in government. Tinubu and Atiku are supposed to be elder statesmen, offering advice to the younger ones to do well in government. What Nigeria needs now are youths with intellectual capacity who know how to galvanize the country as it is in other developed countries as France”, he asserted.
Recalling that the few years Senator Rochas Okorocha governed Imo State as Governor under the platform of APGA, the state recorded immense success, like Anambra State where the party currently in power is experiencing breakthrough, Iwuala said those who lead through APGA often receive grace from God to excel and are even guided by the party’s ideology which he added is purely human oriented.
He posited that APGA has rich ideologies that can liberate the nation from going down the drain, appealing for support of APGA’s presidential candidate, Peter Umeadi, who he described as having the capacity to reposition the country through a workable constitution that would improve security, economy and education, check the electoral system, mentioning that an electoral crime commission and tribunal will be established by APGA in order to help fish out, eject those who get to elective positions fraudulently, force them to refund monies they had amassed during the period they spent in office.
