The All Progressive Congress (APC) Abia State chapter has reacted to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s promise to pay N30,000 to students of Abia State origin studying in Abia State University, Uturu.

Ikpeazu had on Saturday, directed the stopping of N15,000 Covid-19 levy imposed on students by the school’s management and promised that his government would rather , pay N30,000 to each student of the school who is of Abia State origin.

But reacting to the Governor’s gesture, the opposition party, APC described the N30,000 Covid -19 gesture as a “greek gift”, noting that the promised money was vague in reality.

In a statement on Sunday by Mr Ben Godson, publicity secretary, Abia APC wondered why the Prof Uche Ikonne-led University should even impose N15,000 on poor students .

The party asked Abians to take stock of alleged hardship being imposed on Abians by the PDP-led government in Abia State.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly member representing Bende North State constituency, Hon Chijioke Chukwu (APC) on Sunday commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for overruling the management of Abia State University on the matter .

Chukwu while speaking to journalists also said the N30,000 promise by Governor Ikpeazu was a well thought out plan but demanded that the varsity management should always put the interest of the people first.
