Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) led by the General Manager, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, has called for partnership and synergy with the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne.
According to information from the Project Officer, Information, Education, Communication, Training ANCSDA, Mr Nnamdi Onuzulike, said the advocacy visit which was held on thursday at the Conference room of the Ministry, Government House Awka, had in attendance the executives and staff of ANCSDA and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Barr. (Mrs) P. N. Nwandu (a former Board Member of ANCSDA).
The Honourable Commissioner, who expressed happiness over the visit, eulogized Mr Chudi Mojekwu for his support in many community development projects in the State including Anambra West LGA when he was the Transition Chairman at the Local Govt.
The ANCSDA Chairman, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, while introducing the Members of the Management Team, informed the commissioner about the Agency, its activities and achievements in the State under the recently concluded Community and Social Development Project-Additional Financing (CSDP-AF), as well as briefing him on the Agency’s current mandate under Anambra COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (AN-CARES) Programme for Result (P for R) and most importantly, the role of the Local Government Council towards the implementation of Basic Social Services (DLI 1.4) and Labour Intensive Public Workfare (DLI 1.2).
The ANSDC boss however, suggested for good partnership with the ministry to ensure Local Government Review Committees (LGRCs) of the Agency are duly funded under the current administration so as to effectively participate in the on-going implementation of DLI 1.2 and DLI 1.4 of the Anambra State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (AN-CARES) Programme. Adding that vulnerable groups, poor communities, households are the targets that will benefit from the programme.
Mr Mojekwu also appealed to the Commissioner to assist the Agency in discharging it’s perculiar mandate of social protection, as we are the topmost Agency technically equipped with mechanism and manpower to naturally deliver the much emphasized Agenda of our Governor on social protection.
In his response, the Honourable Commissioner, who also was a former Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on political matters, and a former Transition Chairman for Anambra West LGA, expressed optimism in the capacity of the Agency, and assured that he would assist in projecting the mandate of the Agency.
He appreciated the GM for the way and manner he maintained passionate disposition towards the discharge of his duties and prayed for a recognition and reward for his efforts so far. He pledged his commitment to ensuring the Local Government Councils perform their roles to the Agency including funding of the LGRCs.
Other highlights of the visit were the presentation of a copy of the full report on CSDP-AF Implementation Completion Report (ICR), the ANCSDA photobook on implemented Microproject pictures, and CSDP Outcome Implementation Studies Report.
Also, was the presentation of communication items (Souvenirs) of the Agency to the Honourable Commissioner.
Meanwhile, other members who was came with ANCSDA team on the Advocacy visit were, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo (Manager Basic Services), Mr Francis Madubuonu (Finance and Admin Manager), and Mr Chimezie Ibedu (Head, Labour Intensive Public Workfare).
