No fewer than two thousand elders of the past president general association members on Thursday commenced the debate of all governorship candidates in a bid to elect qualified, credible and transparent candidate to replace the incumbent governor come November 6 election.
The event which was held in Awka during the quarterly general meeting/debate for all governorship candidate in the forth coming November 6 governorship election in the state had in attendance the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,Mr Valentine Ozigbo and Accord party flag bearer, Dr. Godwin Maduka.
Addressing the audience, acting national president of the association of past president generals of Anambra, Mazi Omife I. Omife stated that the reason why he decided to engage the political candidates was to align with the rightful candidate who will emerge victorious at the November polls.
“Some people are quarrelling with us over invitation of governorship aspirants and candidates. I want us to know that we are not existing in isolation from the rest of the society. We do not exist to fight governments in power but to be partners in progress. By calling the politicians to address us, they have known us and that whoever that enters the government house tomorrow will not forget us”
Speaking, deputy candidate of PDP Mrs. Azuka who spoke to journalist on behalf of Ozigbo stressed that the party is poised towards revolutionary change in leadership while addressing Ozigbo as a pragmatic, humble leader with a passion for Anambra state. She noted that the party is looking forward to activating the ‘I can do’ spirit as a seasoned experienced candidate.
Also speaking Maduka stated that his mandate is to take Anambra state to greater height where he will ensure that all primary and secondary schools fees will be made free as he intends to make Anambra state the number one literate state in the country.
He equally assured that medical facility in Anambra will be top notch while stating that he will make available 21 medical centre with ambulances situated for proper medical service delivery.
