Anambra police commissioner on Wednesday has asked political parties in the state to adopt peace and tolerance among themselves especially during the upcoming November election.
Police spokesperson in the state DSP Ikenga Tochukwu disclosed this in a statement made available to journalist where he noted that “In an effort to sustain the existing public order and safety in the state, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tony Olofu has sued for peace and tolerance among political parties as he interacted with the parties’ representatives in Anambra State Police Command, Awka”.
“The Commissioner is assuring the good people of Anambra State that the Police is committed to working with patriotic stakeholders toward ensuring public order in the State before, during and after the political rallies”.
Meanwhile, “the CP being the head of internal security in the state shall always be on ground to coordinate the security deployment and ensure that all things being equal, the rallies shall be hitch-free”.
CP Tony, therefore, “called on members of the general public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the security agents in the course of discharging our constitutional duty”.
