The member representing Dunukofia Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu has called on Executive Governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Soludo to conduct Local government elections.
Hon. Ezeudu while making his submission at plenary stated that the Transition Committees being appointed to carry the affairs of the Local Government are level illegal. He urged Soludo to constitute effective Local Government Election in the State with immediate effects.
In his words “Section 7 of the 1999 Constitution as amended made it very clear that the local government system is the third tear of government. “Section 8 of the 1999 constitution as amended, mandate the state government to conduct local government election. “More than six years that I have been in these assembly there have been the recalling decimal of appointing transition chairmen. Are we the conspirators of our own misfortune? ” I have the instruction and mandate to my people, to say NO to Transition Chairmen and Chancellor’s.
