A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State, Group Capt. Nnamdi Nnoruka has said he would bring his years of military experience to bear in tackling the security challenges in the state if elected the governor.

He said none of the aspirants eyeing the exalted seat in the state could match him in issues of security

Nnoruka spoke in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of the state during the opening of the state secretariat of the party ahead of the 2021 governorship election.

He said his priority would be on security, food sufficiency and recovery of looted funds, adding that his colleagues in the military had assured him of maximum support.

“I have received assurances from the military because all of us know ourselves and we are from the same institution, Nigeria Defence Academic (NDA) and started in our youths.

“They know what I’m capable of doing, especially with regards to the security challenges facing Anambra today. That’s why they are all in support of the project.

“We’ll be multi tasking. But there are immediate issues we’ll look into. The biggest challenge is that of inability to feed ourselves, that is hunger.

“Even after years of civil war, we are still finding it difficult to feed ourselves. It’s a major catastrophe. Our leaders can afford to spend billions for themselves while they budget paltry sum for agriculture”, he stated.

Also speaking, a retired general, Arinze Chuka Ebenebe, confirmed the military backing to the project, stressing that the military had been part of the electorate with voting powers.

“We are going to be his think-tank using our experience and human resource management in all fields of endeavour. We are going to advise him to ensure the right things are done”, he stated.
