Anambra state government will on December 28 launch the Anambra City Stadium for use, one of the projects of Governor Willie Obiano.
The governor disclosed this shortly after an inspection visit at the project site which is about ninety five percent to completion.
According to the Governor who expressed satisfaction at the quality of work, he noted that the project is FIFA-rated which he said will be highly beneficial to sports-loving Ndi Anambra.
The Governor stated that the inaugural football match which will happen on the twenty eighth of December is open to the public and free of charge, pointing out that events of that day will be the official commissioning of the project.
Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr. Tony Oli explained that the match would have been played on Wednesday, 22nd December, but for some finishing touches on the project. He stated that the match is the finals of the under 17 academicals, both male and female and extended the invitation to Ndi Anambra to come and witness the power tussle.
Also speaking, contractor of the project, Mr. Ebby Egbe who pleaded for extension date, assured that the project would have been ready by the scheduled date, while further explaining that Special Sprinkler Systems will be installed on the pitch. Mr. Egbe expressed optimism that the pitch will eventually turn out to the best, as the end users will testify.
