The Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has assured Ndi Anambra of adequate provision basic social amenities for their living conditions. Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim gave the assurance during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Nigeria Pallottine Headquarters, Heart of Jesus Province in Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.
Deputy Governor Ibezim stressed the need for Ndi Anambra both at home and in the diaspora to support the vision of the Professor Chukwuma Soludo government towards the transformation of the state by bringing their wealth home and attracting developments to the state. Dr Ibezim promised that the present administration will do it’s best to provide the basic amenities for the citizenry especially in infrastructure and security.
In a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor called on Christians to be praying for South East and Nigeria at all times as the situation in the country calls for divine intervention.
The Bishop noted that how Ndi Igbo are being treated in Nigeria is unfair, but pointed out that the people are tackling the issue with wrong approach, and called on them to be peaceful and wise in their strive to gain their rightful position in the country.
In a remark, the Superior Pallottine Society Nigeria, Reverend Father Cosmas Onwukwe explained that the project will contain youth centre where youths will be trained in various skills, and as well as church building where the spiritual needs of the people will be met, among other things.
Meanwhile, the Traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu community, Igwe Peter Anugwu who is the donor of the land on which the project is being executed, said his beyond his love for God, he gave his total support to the project because of its development driving capability which will help to creation employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the area.
