The collation officer for Ihiala local government area of Anambra State, Professor Muhammadu Umar has declared that there was no election in the council area.
The collation officer disclosed this during the local government collation of results by INEC on Sunday, where he said that the election did not hold in the area because of some manipulations. His stand on the declaration is in tandem with the reports from the local government which said that the electoral officer attempted to produce results without the conduct of election.
News Echo reports that over 148, 000 registered voters in the area with 20 wards and over 39 polling units.
One of the voters who spoke with our correspondent on phone said she was surprised that “having spent hours standing and waiting to be accredited before voting was all in vain. They had another plan but now everything is exposed”, she wailed.
