The Ohanaeze Igbo Women and Ezumezu Ndigbo Women Worldwide on Tuesday endorsed Dr. Godwin Maduka as their governorship candidate.
The endorsement which took place at Dr. Godwin Maduka campaign office Awka had no fewer than one hundred women who came out in large numbers, adorned with colourful attire to show their support for the Accord Party flag-bearer.
News Echo reports that the women represented all the States and Local Governments in Igbo land. “These are seasoned politicians who insisted that a credible candidate with a proven track record must be the next governor of Anambra State and that is Dr. Godwin Maduka”.
Ohanaeze Igbo Women also honoured Okosisi with an award of ‘Agada Gbahelu Uzo Ndigbo’ while Ezumezu Ndigbo Women honoured him with ‘Mbido okwu Ndigbo’ in appreciation of his achievements to the society.
While commending the women, a chieftain of Accord Party, Hon. Sopurum Okafor described the honour done to Okosisi Orumba by the women as exceptional adding that Maduka has what it takes to govern the state.
In his response, Dr. Godwin Maduka expressed gratitude to Igbo Women, especially Anambra women for adopting him as their sole candidate.
Delivering her speech, President General Ohanaeze Igbo Women Organization Worldwide, Chief Calista Nkiru Adimachukwu urged Anambra women to put aside sentiment and party affiliation and come out en masse to vote for Dr. Godwin Maduka of Accord party as the next governor of Anambra State.
