Some aides of the governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano under the aegis of Sustenance of Faith in Governance (SOFIG) have commenced the process of shopping for the successor of the governor.
They have begged the former Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), chairman, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwuto to run for the state 2021 governorship election to become the successor.
The group asked the former member, Federal House of Representatives representing Abuja Area council to run for the Governorship position in order to sustain and improve on the legacies of Obiano’s goverment in the state.
Ukachukwu, is a renowned evangelist and successful business man.
Senior Special Assistants to Governor on media, Mr Kingsley Ezekwelu said at the inauguration SOFIG that considering the tempo and achievements of governor Obiano in the state, Anambra people needed a person that would sustain and improve on his wonderful legacies.
“Based on that, we need to make sure that who takes over from governor Obiano will be a person of impeccable character and integrity. Somebody who understands the dynamics and procedures of good governance. A person who will always see governance as a continuous process. A person who will values, cherish and administer leadership with love and care.
Obiano is leading Anambra people with a humane spirit and we want somebody who will sustain the love and build upon it” he said.
He described Ukachukwu as a silent achiever and philanthropist of repute who has built capacities and homes for over 400 indigent families.
According to Ezekwelu, Ukachukwu in his private life has given scholarships to about 2000 undergraduates and post graduate students both in local and foreign schools.
He also established chains of businesses to alleviate poverty and bequeath skills to youth and women in the society.
According to him, Prince Ukachukwus benevolence transcends his Orsumenyi, Nnewi South Council.
Ezekwelu said SOFIG is made of committed Anambra citizens who are eager to elect a passionate leader who has the interest of the people at heart.
He also stated that the group is not being fronted or sponsored by any person other than the passion for continuity of good governance .
According to him, after a painstaking assessment of situation of things on ground, the group settled for someone like Ukachukwu to man the leadership from 2022.
“We pray that he accepts our call and appeal, “because we will mobilize citizens to ensure his victory at the poll,” he said.
Also the state chairman of SOFIG Mrs Ngozi Agbata also a Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to the governor, at the occasion said that Ukachukwu has all the attributes and quality leadership that Anambra state needs.
Agbata who also is a former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state, said Gov Willie Obiano has done well by restoring people’s faith in governance, hence the need to sustain the tempo.
