The State Director, National Orientation Agency, (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, Awka, Barrister Charles Nwoji, has urged the candidates and their supporters in the November 6 Anambra State governorship election to focus more on issue based campaign rather than engaging themselves in scandalous and defamatory speeches and other destructive attitudes capable of escalating the present security challenges in the State and elsewhere in the country.
The NOA boss, Barrister Nwoji, spoke at One Day Zonal Voter Education /Stakeholders Forum organized by the Agency for a successful governorship election in Anambra State, held at the Council Hall, Njikoka Local Government Area, Abagana.
Barrister Nwoji, who stated that the security situation in the country today is not something anybody could be proud of but a bad omen to Nigeria, maintaining that NOA would continue to discharge its constitutional duties to the people no matter the prevailing circumstances in the Country.
He underscored the importance of peace and love of each other in the development of any country, saying that the duty of NOA in the forthcoming Anambra November 6 governorship election is to effectively inform and educate Anambra citizens on the best way to vote and vote correctly for their votes to count.
The NOA Director, advised the people to be patient with the prevail circumstances in the State, adding that Anambra people are political aware ,though according to him ,they show some signs of apathy during elections in the State.
Barrister Nwoji, reminded the people that their votes showcase them as the true citizens of the country, and as well afford them an opportunity to question those in the leadership positions in the country, should they fail to deliver on the electioneering campaign promises.
The Director, called on the traditional rulers, presidents-general, women leaders and other stakeholders in the State to engage their subjects, children and wards so that they should not indulge in any action that would undermine the relative peace in the State throughout the election periods.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Okunwa Okafor, urged the electorate to take the message of violence free November 6 election in the State to all length and breadth of State, especially at the grassroots, praying that the election would be devoid of all forms of violence.
He INEC electoral officer in charge of Njikoka Local Government Area, Mr. Josiah Ngwoke, described the event as apt and imperative assuring Ndi- Anambra that the election must surely hold as planned by INEC, saying that the Commission is doing everything within its constitutional provisions to ensure the success of the election in the State.
Also, the divisional police officer in charge of Njikoka Local Government Area, Abagana, represented on the occasion by ASP Andrew Akogun of the Division, assured the people that Police in the State and her sister security agencies would not fold their hands watching the disgruntled elements in the State to unleash mayhem in the State before, during and after the election, appealing to the parents to properly guard the movement of their children and wards so that they would not join bad company that would lead them to engaging into social vices that would ignite violence from any part of the State during the election.
