The chairman of Emohua Local Government area in Rivers state, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has banned visitors not carrying the original copy of their permanent voter cards from visiting his office.
In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Bright Jossy Elendu, the chairman directed that visitors to his office be identified through the original copy of their permanent voters card (PVC) before they are granted access.
The statement explained that the directive which takes effect from Wednesday 8 September is intended to encourage residents of Emohua Local Government Area from 18 years and above who are yet to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to participate in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise to obtain their permanent voters cards, with a view to increasing the number of registered voters in the Local Government Area.
It further explained that the directive is also binding on other visitors from outside Emohua Local Government Area from 18 years and above.
The chairman mandated his Special Assistant on Protocol to ensure full compliance with the directive.
