Akarachi promises to give Imo SWAN a facelift

Prince Akarachi Amadi, the chief executive officer and chairman of Akarachi Foundation has promised to give the Imo State branch of the Sports Writers Association (SWAN) a face-lift in order to support them do their jobs effectively and efficiently.

He made the commitment at the occasion of the triple thread honours award given to him Thursday at his Okigwe road office in Owerri by the association.

The young CEO was honoured as a distinguished patron of Imo SWAN, celebrated as the Imo 2020 best grassroots football development icon. He was also issued a certificate of excellence and merit.

Speaking after the investiture by the National Financial Secretary of SWAN, Mr. Sampson Orji, Akarachi expressed delight at the honor and recognition accorded him. He commended the efforts of Imo Sports writers in supporting sports development.

In appreciation he promised to visit the SWAN Secretariat and assess it for what value he can add to enable the group perform their responsibilities without much stress even as he expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the group and the support he has received so far?

Said he, “I assure you that the office will get a touch of Akarachi Foundation very soon’’, he further assured.

In his words, “the football competition that we started about a month ago we are happy with the kind of traction that it has gained since it started. I am also happy with the support that I have received from SWAN collectively and individually but I will call on you to do more.’’

Amadi disclosed that the Mbaike Unity Football tournament has gulped over N20m spent on health, security, kits, logistics, with publicity taken a larger portion of the budget. He stated that the prize money has been fixed for N6m.

The young entrepreneur also expressed happiness that his PATRON status in SWAN will now give him more leverage to access benefits from the Association. He advised the members to rally more support for the competition which final will be played on the 3rd of January 2021 at the Iwuanyanwu Stadium Iho.

Earlier in his presentation, the Imo Chairman of SWAN, Rotn Everest Ezihe had disclosed that the Engr. Akarachi Amadi was picked for such honour after a painstaking search by the group for those who have made significant contribution in grassroots sports development in the year.

He enjoined him to sustain his good effort to support humanity.
