The Anambra State government has instituted a panel of inquiry on the land border dispute between two warring communities of Aguleri and Umuleri in Anambra East L.G.A. This in the effort to bring enduring peace to the two communities
Addressing the panel members, Dr. Nkem Okeke, Deputy Governor of Anambra State said that it is in the interest of the state government to bring lasting peace to the two communities. He lamented that the dispute had been re-occurring over the years even at government’s interventions to bring peace.
The government is poised more than ever before to find a lasting solution to the protracted land border dispute, the deputy governor maintained.
Okeke told the 15 member panel headed by Rtd.Air Vice Marshal Ben Choibi to find the immediate cause of the dispute and nip it in the bud by interviewing communities and families that owns the land in dispute.
He also advised the traditional rulers of the two communities to speak to their subjects to sheath their swords and maintain peace while solutions to the protracted land border dispute are achieved by the panel.
Other members of the panel include; Dr.Mrs Uju Nworgu, State Attorney General, Mrs.Onuigbo Ndidi permanent secretary to state government and also Mr.Bonaventure Enemali Commissioner for lands in the state amongst others.
